TV Stories, 2003 – 2006
oil on canvas, 140 x 200 cm
A series of canvases that are the result of transmedia practices, photographing television images and then repainting photos taken with an extended exposure time. In his painting representations, the artist recorded the pixelation of blurred photographic images. The indistinct, often illegible shapes are accompanied by texts, last-minute reports, broadcast at the bottom of the TV screen. The canvases relating mostly to wartime accounts combine a clear text message about dramatic events with the visual ambiguity of the images.
