KRZYSZTOF WODICZKO
ACTION IN SPACE

1972

Documentation of the action was presented as part of the One Work Show, Adres Gallery, Łódź, 1972

On April 21 in Warsaw, Włodzimierz Borowski, Jan Świdziński and Krzysztof Wodiczko, equipped with cameras, took positions in a equilateral triangle facing one another separated by the smallest possible distance.
Next they simultaneously took photos of one another: Borowski shot Wodiczko who took a picture of Świdziński while Świdziński photographed Borowski. Then the three moved farther away from one another, the resulting triangle being much larger and circumscribed on the former triangle, and they photographed one another again.
They then increased the distance between them again, remaining arranged in the triangle.
This operation was repeated nine times. In the fi nal stage Borowski ceased to see Wodiczko in his camera’s focus, Wodiczko ceased to see Świdziński and Świdziński no longer saw Borowski. By increasing the distance separating them they faded from one another’s focus and melted into the environment.
