Bridges look almost like picturesque ruins erected by some dillettante in some English garden in the last decades of the eighteenth century. Existing somewhere in real space, a real remnant of a real construction has been noticed, framed and frozen in the photograph, thus “really” turning into a sham ruin, belated by more than two hundres years. The picturesque ruin from the beginnings of modernity, an important element of its time, much more than a garden fancy, an opening to constructing new concepts of History, Culture, Civilization and Nature – which does not open anything now.
