WAR VETERAN VEHICLE

2008

The vehicle was designed in collaboration with Theodore Spyropoulos as a temporary solution for war veterans to help them function in public space. As war traumas cause veterans to hide behind the shield of “emotional armor,” the vehicle would serve both as a shelter and as a device to help them expose themselves and share their wartime experiences. The mechanical wings serving as “communication shields” would close or open depending on the situation. Thanks to the use of advanced technology, the veterans would be able to externalize their traumatic experiences by broadcasting images and audio via the folding “wings” fitted with screens and loudspeakers. The project metaphorized the situation of war veterans, offering them a communications tool that addressed their psychosocial needs.
