Krzysztof Wodiczko. LIVING PICTURES

7.12 – 23.12.2017
3.01 – 27.01.2018

In Living Pictures, Krzysztof Wodiczko animates historical figures with the voices and gestures of contemporary people. Still images of scholars, reformers, Enlightenment activists with an eminent record in the field of national education, speak with the voices of contemporary citizens, animated by their moving images and statements.

The portraits of Stanisław Staszic, Hugo Kołłątaj, Stanisław Małachowski, and Joachim Lelewel become a medium facilitating co-participation in cultural practices and inclusion in the public debate. Students, activists, Varsovians of various backgrounds and generations, embody images of their great ancestors, sharing experiences and views on the contemporary.
