SLAUGHTERHOUSES

Slaughterhouses, 2015-2017

A series of paintings in which autobiographical plots and themes taken from the history of art overlap in a palimpsest. The artist alluded to the expressive canvases of Chaim Soutine depicting a split ox and at the same time to his own memory, memories when as a child he was sent to a butcher for meat. In all compositions, the theme of the angle inscribed in the abstract space of the picture is repeated. A theme that appeared as early as the 1970s, incl. in the video installation Horn (1976) and references in the memory of the artist punished in his childhood by putting to a corner.
