The Relations series is an example of analytical reflection on the medium of photography, typical of the artist’s mid-1970s activity. In one of the work from this series by marking out three angles with his hand on three consecutive frames, the artist relates to the rules of geometry and the apparent obviousness of knowledge which photography can illustrate – yet despite the objectivity commonly ascribed to the medium, it cannot be credible proof of the existence of an angle. In a subversive manner, the creator draws attention to the relation between what we “know”, what we see, and what photography shows us.
