WALL

Wall, 1972, 4’06”, 35 mm

The five-minute recording was the result of placing the camera in front of the wall of the Łódź film school. The recording from a fixed camera proceeded without any intervention by the author, who, as he recalls, asked Marek Koterski to walk along the wall. 180 meters of filmstrip was cut into short sections and then edited without any chronology on the basis of random selections. As a result, individual scenes overlap or break, giving the impression of using a special camera for trick shots. The discontinuities of the film images are accompanied by the continuity of the soundtrack – continuously recorded bird twitter, unnaturally intense and loud in the context of the urban environment.
