Natalia Brandt, from the Elusiveness of Line series, 2025
Starting from thedocumentation of drawings on hands, she “was taking lines off” andtransferred into the world of imagination, in which they were freed fromprevious meanings. These “taked lines” gave rise to several series ofworks, becoming the leading motif in photographic, drawing and painting cycles.
In earlier projects, makinguse of line as a synonym for boundaries and divisions, the artist moved in thearea of symbolic culture. In her latest project, she perceives lines beyond anyideology, directing our attention to these special interactions between thehand, its movement and the surroundings. Works created from the intertwining oftouch and seeing invisible lines, in their own way visualise elusiveexperiences of perceiving the world and our situating in it.
Natalia Brandt (1983), author of paintings, assemblages, collages, photographs, films, spatial installations and objects. Sheruns the 10th Drawing Studio at the University of Arts in Poznań.
