PORTRAIT OF A FAMILY IN TIME

Portrait of a family in time, 2008-2009

The series of twenty-three works consists of processed photographs and text written by the artist. The starting point was an old family photo. In enlarged photographs, the artist blurs faces and details, changes details, adds new elements, blurs or enhances background sceneries, sometimes blurring entire, almost fading images or preparing their negative inversions. Changing versions of the text correspond to several variants of one image. The reference is not the history of the family or an attempt to reconstruct it, but the memory triggered by images. Through these photos, the artist accesses the pictures frozen in the archive of his own memory and starts the process of their fictionalization.
